Hello, Tweeters,

Today I had an unusual day of birding, although I never left my backyard.
I live on a prairie......not a tree of any real height anywhere near my
house. Nevertheless, I had a Spotted Towhee underneath my feeder (used to be
called Rufous Sided Towhee). That's a first for my feeders!
Then, while outside, I heard a large V of Canada geese headed my way, but
there was some extra music. There they were, accompanied by 14 Swans, all
calling with the geese. No, I'm not certain what species...
Finally, as I was cleaning my horse's paddock, I called to him and the sound
of my voice flushed a covey of 16 California Quail from the scotch broom on
the other side of my fence. That too, is a first, although I've heard them
calling now and then. I sure hope all these birds stay in my neighborhood.
