Six or seven years ago (don't have my notes with me here) I found a
Bar-Headed Goose among the Canada Geese at the Montlake Fill. I wonder if
it could conceivably be the same individual? It, too, was not banded -- but
surely an escapee gone feral and keeping the obvious company?

Eight birders from ELWAS went to L. Sammamish SP this morning. It was a
partly cloudy/sunny, cold morning. In the soccer fields east of the east
parking lot, we saw a BAR-HEADED GOOSE in a flock of about 100 Canada Geese,
including some small "Cackling" subspecies. The BHGO had no band around its
legs. I tried calling the Cougar Mt. Zoo which is not too far away to find
out if one had escaped from there. But, I could not get anyone to talk to,
only voice mail choices. It is a beautiful bird. The flock of geese later
flew over to L. Sammamish by the main beach area and the BHGO was still with
them. Other highlights, among the 40 species we saw, were very close views,
about 10 ft., of a beautiful male RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER, some PURPLE
FINCHES, HAIRY WOODPECKER, HERRING GULL, WESTERN GREBE.
