December 8, 6:08 AM - Hi, this is Tom Aversa at (206) 782-7342. Reporting
some birds from the Ridgefield area in SW Washington. Highlights of the trip
yesterday included two immature RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS at the auto loop in the
River S unit These birds were seen at different times in that area. The
first bird was seen near the first time you cross the water on the auto
loop. The second was seen at the NW corner of the auto loop. These birds
were separatable by plumage character so they were definitely different
birds. Also in the area there were 33 GREAT EGRETS on the lower river road.
The mail highlight down there was six AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS in the dry
Shilapoo Lake bed. Also a dozen SHORT-EARED OWLS down there and at least 60
SAVANNAH SPARROWS.
