December 9, 10:10 AM - Hello, this is Gene Hunn at Point No Point at Vic
Nelson's place, standing on the pier looking at a beautiful pair of ARCTIC
LOONS. We think they are adults. They are about 100 yards off to the
northwest. There's a number of PACIFIC LOONS nearby. They are very
distinctly different. They have larger big, white flank pads. Bumpy
forehead. Slightly upturned bill. No trace of a necklace. Much darker on the
crown. Very crisiply marked; very unlike the COMMON LOON. We're 99.99% sure
of these two. They hang out closely together. It is now 10:00 o'clock in the
morning, Saturday. Goodbye. Good birding.

December 8, 9:41 PM - Hi, this is Steven Mlodinov. Today Rick Romea and I
birded around Skagit County. The main highlight was three WHITE-THROATED
SPARROWS at the Skagit Game Range headquarters. These birds were in widely
scattered locations in the hedgerow field complex there. There was also a
HARLAN'S HAWK along Mann Road just east of the Skagit Game Range. This was
an immature. There was an adult HARLAN'S HAWK on the Samish Flat by the
intersection of Farm To Market Road and Bayview Edison Road. Good luck and
good birding.
