Just returned from a Walla Walla week end birding trip with Marvin Cooper.
We met Mike Denny and the three of us birded Saturday and today (12/10).

Highlights include a WESTERN SCREECH-OWL in Rook Park in Walla Walla. We
were within 10 feet of a perched bird in broad daylight. No SAW-WHET OWLS.
After searching around town we had good looks at 2 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS within
Walla Walla. We then headed west of town looking for raptors. We had many
RED-TAILED HAWKS and several ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, but no falcons. We found a
male RUSTY BLACKBIRD just across State Line Road in Oregon at a cattle lot.
This was about 10 miles west of Walla Walla.

Dorian Park near Hwys 12 and 730 was pretty dead. No unusual birds.
However, at the intersection of Hwy 12 and Dodd Rd, Mike spotted a HARRIS'S
SPARROW. We dipped on the CATTLE EGRET between the Snake River and Hwy 124.
Our gull list for the trip include RING-BILLED, GLAUCOUS-WINGED, GLAUCOUS,
CALIFORNIA, HERRING, WESTERN AND MEW.

Many thanks to Mike for showing Marvin and me around and for some great
birding.
