Spent an hour Saturday watching the Albino Loon in Tacoma. We parked at the
Les Davies fishing pier and were treated to the loon surfacing right in
front of us next to the pier. We went out on the pier and watched him feed.
His dives have stretched from the average 50 second dives of a month ago to
75 second dives. What I found interesting was there were divers in the water
near by and instead of scaring the loon away he seemed to shadow them. I
wonder now if he is using them to scare up food. When we arrived the divers
were near the pier. As they moved off toward the direction of Asarco the
loon also went in that direction. We also noticed him dining on what look to
be eel. I took some more pictures (I'm getting better) and will post them
today or tomorrow.
