This is Kas Dumroese with the Northern Idaho / Eastern Washington /
Northeastern Oregon bird hotline for Friday, Dec 8 (2000).

An AMERICAN BLACK DUCK is still being seen at Mann Lake, Nez Perce Co, ID .
First seen Sun Nov 19 by Joe Lipar, it was seen last weekend by Jane
Westervelt and on Dec 8 by Bryan Jamison. It's in the huge flock of
Mallards on the lake and probably will continue to be unless the lake
freezes over this week. If so, check for the bird on the rivers. Also at
Mann Lake this past week were 3 DUNLIN. Mann Lake is about 3 miles east of
the Lewiston Orchards along Powers Avenue. ID DeLorme 54, A-1.

A flock of 20+ SNOW BUNTINGS were near the intersection of US 2 and Heritage
Road (aka Woods Road) in Douglas Co WA on Dec 8 according to Jerry and Sandy
Converse. WA DeLorme 85, C-4.

A flock of 150 SNOW BUNTINGS were along Detour Road, a couple of miles west
of the Edwall Hwy, west of Reardon, Lincoln Co, WA on Dec 7 according to
Mark Houston. WA DeLorme 88, C-1.

A MEW GULL was below Ice Harbor Dam, Walla Walla Co, WA on the Snake River
east of Pasco WA on Dec 2 according to Mike and MerryLynn Denny. Take WA 124
east 4.5 miles from US 12 and turn north on Ice Harbor Dam Road. At the dam,
head straight across the parking lot for a good view below the dam. In the
same general area, Mike and MerryLynn report 2 CATTLE EGRETS in Burbank
Heights east of Pasco. From US 12, head east on WA 124 and take the second
road left - it's North Lake Drive. It veers right and becomes Paradise Road.
Start looking for the birds as you continue. WA DeLorme 40, BC-1.

If you have any questions about the birds on the hotline, give me a call.
