Hi, Bud

I've used the Army's NVD (night vision devices). They're incredible. You can read a map with them in pitch darkness. The darker the night the better the performance. Yes, you will definitely get a good view of owls with a night scope.

Of course, the Army does not allow the typical civilian to come and sign a pair out, and they cost about 7K a pop. So......I suggest you dig around in the Cabela's catalog. A little cheaper and perhaps not so high performance, but you're looking for owls, not reading maps or flying helicopters with them.

I hope this helps.
