A few observations of note for Sunday and Monday, Dec. 17 & 18 north & east
of Seattle. On the Edmond's CBC yesterday I found a fine adult,
white-striped WHITE-THROATED SPARROW at Bothell in Sammamish River park just
west of the foot-bridge with Golden-crowned Sparrows and a menagerie of
exotic roosters. Then this morning I found two more, one at Larimer's
corners (an immature) and the other in the previously reported flock just
off Carnation Farms Rd. on the gravel spur off the paved road along the
eastern dike of the Snoqualmie River just north of the bridge. This flock
had an adult WHITE-THROATED SPARROW and a HARRIS'S SPARROW plus an adult
AMERICAN TREE SPARROW.

Also of note was an adult gray-morph GYRFALCON along the old
Snohomish-Monroe Road (extension of Lewis St. in Snohomish) in a tall
isolated Maple sitting beside a Red-tailed Hawk due south of Westwind Farm
(ca. 1 mi se of the Pilchuk River bridge). (Joyce Kelley had seen it a few
days ago.)
