This is Kas Dumroese with the Northern Idaho / Eastern Washington /
Northeastern Oregon bird hotline for Friday, Dec 15 (2000).

Ron Dexter reports 2 SNOWY OWLS and 27 SNOW BUNTINGS west of Reardon,
Lincoln Co, WA. The SNOW BUNTINGS were northwest of Reardon along McRae Road
(aka Widow Road) off of the Old State Hwy (aka Sunset Hwy), specifically
T25N, R38E, Sec 1. See WA DeLorme 88, C-1. The SNOWY OWLS were southwest of
Reardon, specifically T24N, R38E, at the corner of Sec 5,6,7, and 8. WA
DeLorme 87, D-8.

A SHORT-EARED OWL was seen north of Pullman, Whitman Co, WA on Sun Dec 9 by
Tom and Diane Weber. The bird was along Wheelan Road about 1 mile south of
its intersection with Estes Road. WA DeLorme 57, BC-8.

A HARLAN'S RED-TAILED HAWK is persisting on the Rathdrum Prairie north of
Post Falls, Kootenai Co ID according to Stephen Lindsay. The bird is
commonly seen west of ID 41 between Poleline and Burlington Northern roads.

A couple of reports of LONG-EARED OWLS near Moscow, Latah Co. ID. Charles
Swift and Joe Lipar found 3 birds at the University of Idaho Plant Science
Farm 2 miles east of Moscow. The birds were in the very north end of the
ornamental plantings in the center of the station, just across the road from
the brown farm house. Gary Qualman has 6 to 8 LONG-EARED OWLS near his
residence in Viola, Latah Co., ID, just north of Moscow. If you'd like to
