Tweeters,

The preliminary results for the Sequim-Dungeness CBC, held Monday, 12/18,
are coming in. We presently stand at 141 species, the same total as 1998
and 1999. I still expect tallies from two more groups, so additions are
possible. The weather cooperated beautifully, bringing perfect birding
conditions with high overcast and light winds, following four days of
strong gales and considerable rain.

We had 82 total counters in 22 parties (plus feeder watchers). Many,
many thanks to everyone who helped, especially those who traveled
considerable distances to be here.

Unusual birds for our count include:

Yellow-billed Loons - 2 (one off Batelle Lab in Sequim Bay and one at-sea
between Protection Is. and Dungeness Spit, both seen about the same time)
Cinnamon Teal - 2 at Kitchen-Dick Ponds
Sora - one at Graysmarsh
Marbled Godwit - one at Dungeness Spit
Long-billed Dowitcher - 3 at South Sequim Bay
Greater Yellowlegs - one at 3 Crabs
Anna's Hummingbird - one at a feeder, plus a hummer sp., likely this
species
Snowy Owl - 2 at Dungeness Spit (one at 2 miles out and one on Graveyard
Spit)
Barred Owl - one at Graysmarsh
Am. Pipit - 2 at Travis Spit (mouth of Sequim Bay)
White-throated Sparrow - 2 (one at a feeder and one at 3 Crabs)

Count week birds:
Lapland Longspur, Red Knot, and peep sp. (probable Least Sandpiper)

Sorry, no Skylarks or Bobolinks.... We tried.
