Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Wednesday December 20. If you have anything to add call

On December 18 a KING EIDER was observed flying past the Sea Lion Caves
north of Florence.

A GYRFALCON was reported south of Klamath Falls during the week and a
GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was in Tule Lake, CA December 15. Another GYRFALCON
was seen December 19 in the Peoria area southeast of Corvallis.

A YELLOW-BILLED LOON was near the boat basin on Netarts Bay December 16.
A possible YELLOW-BILLED was reported from Wallowa Lake December 17.

Two SNOWY OWLS and 3 LAPLAND LONGSPURS were at the South Jetty of the
Columbia River December 17. The owls were on the river beach. A NASHVILLE
WARBLER is now coming to an Astoria feeder.

On December 15 a BROWN PELICAN, a RED PHALAROPE, and 7 LONG-TAILED DUCKS
were on Coos Bay at Charleston. A LESSER YELLOWLEGS, a MOCKINGBIRD, 8 RED
PHALAROPES, 24 WHITE-TAILED KITES, 26 WESTERN BLUEBIRDS, and 12 SWAMP
SPARROWS were among the 161 species on the December 17 Coos Bay Count.

Five SNOW BUNTINGS and a LONG-TAILED DUCK were at the North Jetty of the
Siuslaw River December 18. On December 19 a BLACK PHOEBE was at Heceta
Head north of Florence. A BARN SWALLOW was at the Lincoln City Sewage
Ponds December 15. Large numbers of COMMON MURRES were off Cape Meares, 3
ROCK SANDPIPERS were on Barview Jetty, a sickly SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER
was near Tillamook, and a BAND-TAILED PIGEON was in Garibaldi December
16. On December 19 a flock of 12 ANCIENT MURRELETS flew past Ecola State
Park in Cannon Beach.

The December 17 Sauvie Island Count found a LESSER YELLOWLEGS, a
TRICOLORED BLACKBIRD, 14 SHORT-EARED OWLS, and 1021 SANDHILL CRANES in
the Ridgefield NWR area, and more SHORT-EARED OWLS on the Oregon side,
plus an EMPEROR GOOSE along Rentenaar Road on the east side of the
Island. A BRANT was at Ridgefield NWR the next day. The BLACK-HEADED
GROSBEAK continues to visit a northeast Portland feeder.

Four LESSER YELLOWLEGS and 4 BAND-TAILED PIGEONS were at Salem December
16. A PRAIRIE FALCON was along 117th. Street east of Salem December 18. A
WILSON'S WARBLER was in Grants Pass December 18 and a SAY'S PHOEBE was
there the next day.

On December 17 a LONG-TAILED DUCK was in The Dalles. The Detroit Lake
LONG-TAILED DUCK continues to be seen.

A BOHEMIAN WAXWING was within a flock of CEDAR WAXWINGS near Sisters
December 19. A TREE SPARROW was in Klamath falls December 16.
