Brian and I made a comparatively short trip to Marymoor this morning in the
gloom and drizzle. We missed a lot of little birds due to darkness. But there
was some interesting stuff:

Sharp-shinned Hawk and Cooper's Hawk kept things lively - the Cooper's looked
interested in the Rock Doves on the cricket pitch.

Also:

Green Heron A bit upstream from the weir
Common Snipe Near Green Heron
Gr. Wh-fronted Goose 1 with 150 Canadas
Virginia Rail On boardwalk, unless it was a SORA?
Hairy Woodpecker Extremely loud incessant calling
Brown Creeper 2 in woods
Purple Finch Counted 10 at the s. end of Dog Area

We also had a very credible report of a GREAT HORNED OWL seen by a dog-walker
who birds. She's seen it a couple of times now, including this morning, in the
woods south of the Dog Area at first light.

There was a dead Western Grebe at the lake lookout, about 20 feet out from the
platform (no chance to recover the body without a long pole). Live WEGR were
out beyond the 1000+ coots on the lake.

About 45 species all told.

See you in the New Year. Happy holidays.
