Tweets, Today I birded with Keith Messer, making a quick stop, at Brady Loop;
where among an Imm. Rough Legged, several Harriers, a Peregrine Falcon, and
misc. we found a White Headed Junco. It was a male with a dark bib, but
completely white head and neck, with a fine black eyestripe, which tapered at
the end....What a delight.(Keith gets credit for this one).....Not far from
the intersection of Hwy 101, and 107 we had an imm TV sitting on a pole,
another pleasant and almost comical surprise.
We started birding Canby St Park around 12 noon where we ran into Ken Knittle.
Unfortunately Ken was unable to stay long enough to see this magnificent
bird. Around 2:15 pm, we ran into Curtis Pearson and his wife. We continued
working the beach area, and finally spotted the apparently juvenal Mountain
Plover in the wood debris frantically working the sand; stopping to pull up a
succulent giant worm of some kind, running and stopping, looking at us,
ignoring us, and having a feast!
This appears to be a very healthy bird, hopefully it will stay around for
everyone to get a chance to see it. I marked the area we found him in with a
pink and orange float tied to a leaning branch...However I think there is a
good chance that this may dissappear, children were wanting it just after I
hung it up. If it is gone, look for a partial fence that has been built up by
some kids. It was about 150 yards from the jetty.
It would be nice if someone brought some flagging out and re-marked its
location.........Good luck.......Vicki Biltz Bonney Lake Wa
