Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday December 28. If you have anything to add call

The BLUE JAY continues to be seen at Bingen on the Washington side of the
Columbia River Gorge.

The Netarts Bay YELLOW-BILLED LOON continues to be seen. The possible
YELLOW-BILLED LOON on Wallowa Lake December 17 was confirmed December 20.

The two SNOWY OWLS and the LAPLAND LONGSPUR continue to be seen at the
South Jetty of the Columbia River. A SNOWY OWL was at the Eugene Airport
December 22 but did not remain.

Over 1500 FULMARS and 300 BLACK SCOTERS flew south past Boiler Bay
December 22. On December 27 over 700 Red-throated Loons and 500
White-winged Scoters flew south past Boiler Bay. Perhaps the
WHITE-WINGEDS joined the December 26 mostly WHITE-WINGED SCOTER raft
extending 20 miles along the coast from Gold Beach to Port Orford.

Five SNOW BUNTINGS are still at the mouth of the Siuslaw River. Four ROCK
SANDPIPERS at the South Jetty of Yaquina Bay and the 3 ROCK SANDPIPERS on
Barview Jetty at Tillamook Bay are still being seen. A BARROW'S GOLDENEYE
was on Tillamook Bay December 25.

A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW is coming to a feeder east of Newport and another
is being seen at the end of King Avenue in Warrenton. A MOUNTAIN PLOVER
has been seen all week on the beach north of the North Jetty of the
Columbia River in Fort Canby State Park. A PRAIRIE FALCON was near near
Clatskanie December 26.

Two REDHEADS and the RED-SHOULDERED HAWK are at Ridgefield NWR and a
RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was on the east side of Sauvie Island near the
Gilbert River Road December 24.

A BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER was near Gabriel Park in southwest Portland
December 21. At least eight NIGHT-HERONS are now at the roost along
Marine Drive in North Portland. A BLUE-WINGED TEAL, a RED-SHOULDERED
HAWK, an adult WESTERN GULL, and a family of four TRUMPETER SWANS were at
or near the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest Grove December 23. Five
TRUMPETERS were near the EE Wilson SWA December 23, and 40 were at their
traditional spot south of Monmouth December 26.

A SWAMP SPARROW was south of Monmouth and a LARK SPARROW was along Elkins
Road southwest of Monmouth December 26. On December 27 two male
TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS were in a blackbird swarm along Elkins Road. On
December 26 a SWAMP SPARROW was at Ankeny NWR. A BARN SWALLOW was near
Baskett Slough NWR December 20. The male RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER was seen
again December 20 south of Grants Pass near Williams.

The LONG-TAILED DUCK continues to be seen at Detroit Dam east of Salem.
Over 80 TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS were in a mixed blackbird flock northeast
of Redmond December 20. An adult WESTERN GULL was seen again in Klamath
Falls December 23.
