This is quite tough . . . I've had such an incredible year for birds! I
wish I could have more than just one! But I guess that if I have to give
just one bird, I'd have to say the Pel's Fishing Owls I saw in the Okavango
Delta in Botswana were some of this year's best. They're truly astounding
birds. And to be able to walk in the African bush to find them makes it all
the better - elephants crashing around in the near distance, hippos snorting
out in the delta, watching baboons eat greedily in a sausage tree, not
knowing where the resident lions are . . . I wanna go back!
