Marv Breece gave us three nice gifts to end our birding year today.
First, he took us to see the Snohomish GYR FALCON, seen about 1/2 mile
south of the Pilchuck River Bridge, in a large deciduous tree, not too
far off the road, to the west, 9:45 am. Great looks at this beautiful
bird. Next was the Snohomish sewage treatment facility, where we got a
super look at a SWAMP SPARROW. Finally, off to the Edmonds Marsh area,
where we looked for a long time, just about gave up, but finally saw the
most amazing EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL. Three real sweet treats.
Thanks Marv! Happy New Year All!

PS - Other highlights of our past birding week were three SNOWY OWLS and
a SHORT-EARED OWL at Big Ditch, the LONG-EARED OWL at Discovery Park on
the 28th (3:15 pm) and the NORTHERN GOSHAWK, BARRED OWL, and GREAT
HORNED OWL at Reifel on the 29th. Thanks to the many tips from Tweeters
contributors!
