Hi there,
A couple of you have e-mailed me that my early-morning owl was probably
not a barn owl as I had suspected, because of its sound. It sounded
just like what you think owls are supposed to sound like: one short
"whoo" and two "whoos" together, not more than 15 or 20 seconds apart.
I figured it was a barn owl because I've seen them here, they have such
distinctive faces. But not actually seeing this one and now learning
(see, that's why I came here!) that this is not the typical noise of a
barn owl . . . well now I have hopes that it could have been a Great
Horned Owl. Wow! All I know is it looked pretty big as it swooped by.
Thanks for your help!
