Subject: January turkey vulture report

From: Diann MacRae - tvulture at halcyon.com
Hello, Tweets
This is the first report of the season on migrating turkey vultures. A
very few winter over, it seems, all in single digit numbers, as far as I've
heard. They've been noted on Vancouver Island, near Gig Harbor, in
southern Oregon, and one or two other spots; usually just 1-2 birds.
Following is the first probable migrant in our immediate area for 2000.
Turkey Vulture sightings in the month of January, 2000, in Washington:
28th -- 1 at Discovery Park, Seattle, heading north at about noon
February is when they start showing up a few at a time; mid-March to
mid-April is prime time, so keep looking up!
Cheers, Diann
