Laszlo Retfalvi, in his thesis on Bald Eagles nesting in the
San Juan Islands, mentioned observing an egg, unguarded, in a Bald Eagle nest
on March 9. It was the nest at Turn Island (where the ferry makes
a sharp turn you know). I believe this is the earliest egg date I had ever
encountered for Bald Eagles in Washington. Where's Martin Muller? He's
usually a store house of useful trivia on such things.
