Thanks to some enthusiastic emails, I headed up north to B.C. to Reifel Bird
Sanctuary. It was a great morning if you love owls (like me!). Seen were
two NORTHERN SAW-WHETS. One of them was ridiculously close. Then there was
a very well hidden GREAT HORNED OWL. Then thank you so much John for showing
me the three LONG-EARED OWLS on nearby property. And then there was a BARN
OWL high up in a cedar tree sleeping soundly. On my drive home I thought I'd
stop by the north-fork access of the Skagit River to give SHORT-EARED OWLS a
try. I had two locking talons over the field and finally one stayed still on
a log for me to take some nice pictures. It was a very nice trip and am
