>From our observation point of the eagle's nest, on a small dead-end road,
we are fairly close to the nest, but have never seen in it. When feeding
starts, as you say, or the chicks are larger, then we know what's what.
Neither of these adults is "young" - the eagles that have been nesting here
for the 14 years I've been observing have not been ringed; whether it's the
exact same pair or there has been change is hard to ascertain. I'll check
more often this month out of curiosity.
