Bill Tweit, Bruce LeBar, Ryan Shaw, Scott (?) and I birded Priest Rapids
Lake most of today (February 3rd) and did NOT locate an Arctic Loon. It was
windy in the morning; this definitely posed a challenge. In the afternoon,
conditions were much better and we covered much of the lake a 2nd time,
again without success.

We were, however, treated to many spectacular views of snow-draped Umtanum
Ridge, with its overturned basalt formations, contrasting with the soft
buffs of native bunchgrass mantling those slopes, a real treat!

An early (or overwintering?) Say's Phoebe was perhaps the notable bird
sighting; this bird was below the dam ~ .5 mile.
