This weekend i had the privilege of birding with Patrick and Ruth
Sullivan. We headed over to Priest Rapids Lake in search of the Artic
Loon. Luckily for us another birder had seen the bird swimming north
hugging the shore line in Yakima County. Patrick quickly scanned the
shore line and found the ARTIC LOON. The most distinguishing mark on the
Loon was a large white patch on the tail end of the bird. It was very
noticeable when the bird was broadside to us. We were joined by other
birders who got looks at it as well. We lost the bird as it was heading
north. We saw lots of COMMON LOONS and one of the Common Loons had a
very white strip on its side. We tried to relocate the Artic Loon on
Sunday, but could not find it. Thanks again Patrick and Ruth Sullivan
for an awesome weekend of birding.
