Subject: Passing of one of great birders Dr. Arnold Small

Hi Birders,

Arnold Small died today. I know he maybe a little more known to us here in
California, but as one of the founders of ABA and the author of several books
I feel that it is important to let those birders who do not subscribe to the
listservers on which the news has already appeared know of his passing.

He was our mentor and a major part of our birding history, he will be missed.
Our wishes and prayers go out to his wife Mimi, his son Brian Small and his
wife, and Arnold's grandchild.

I am adding Hank Brodkin's post to mine.

May Arnold be seeing all those missed birds, especially seeing the Kirtland's
Warbler that he recently mentioned wanting to see again in article about him
in Wildbirds.

Thanks Arnold for sharing your knowledge with us,

John (One of Birders2)
John + Irma = 2, we are birders, too.

Birders -
We were deeply saddened to receive this news this morning. Arnold was
one of the original founders of birding as we know it today and a friend
for more than 30 years.
He helped form ABA, then helped save it when it was in trouble. And
whether you knew Arnold or not - in some way his activities touched
every birder on these lists.
We'd like to think that he is in that Great Rain Forest up there, where
all birders hope to go when our earthly bonds are loosened, perhaps
looking at a new antpitta with Phoebe and his other friends that have
preceded him.
Peace, Arnold!
