I have also been hearing signs of spring. I heard a tree frog for the first time this morning, and I caught the first singing Red-winged Blackbird last Monday in a parking lot in Bellevue. The Winter Wrens, Bewick's Wrens and towhees have been at it for over a week now. I've also heard a Ring-necked Pheasant somewhere out back, and a Starling imitating the stock California Quail chi-CA-go call (either that, or there was a quail sitting 80 feet up in a hemlock somewhere, while some starlings were cackling nearby).
