Sorry for the late posting, but, on Jan. 29, on Hwy 14, right before the
Dalles Dam-Hwy. 197 turnoff, I saw a Ferruginous Hawk. It soared right over
my vehicle and soared over a field a few minutes and then landed on a big
boulder. It stayed on the boulder for 5 minutes or so, and I got great looks
at it with my binoculars and scope. When soaring I especially noticed the
very light tail and the light "wrist" patches on the top side of the wings,
and from below it was very light colored except for the wing tips. When
perched on the boulder facing me the neck, breast and belly were light
colored all the way down.Sorry again for the late posting.
