A group of eight, led by Darryl Thompson, birded Point Roberts USA and
Boundary Bay BC 0n Tuesday. Highlights were fourteen Bald Eagles,
soaring close to us, above the bluff at Lilly Point, an immature
Gyrfalcon attacking waterfowl near the marina, Short-eared Owls
contesting Northern Harriers for territory at dusk, and Dall Porpoises
and a Thayer's Gull off Lighthouse Park.
The group also visited OWL (Orphaned WildLife) a rehabilitation
facility, located off 72nd St. near the Boundary Bay Airport. A few of
the species seen were Golden Eagle, American Kestrel, Great Gray Owl,
Hawk Owl, Tawny Owl, Screech Owl, Great Horned Owl, Barred Owl, and Bald
Eagle.
