hello tweets.

a colleague of mine told me tonight that he had a barn owl in
his backyard on the third of february. the bird was heard
first, hooting around 1100pm, and was then seen atop a large
cedar tree in the backyard. my colleague hooted at the owl and
managed to get it to reply and also to "do cartwheels" in the
tree as it came lower. he hooted again and the owl fell silent.
a few seconds later, the owl swooped down over his head and
flew away across the street, past a street light. my colleague
thought that he had scared the owl away, but it was heard hooting
(presumably from the same tree) about fifteen minutes later,
after he had crawled into bed.

my colleague lives on 80th and 15th NE, near lake city way.

has anyone else seen or heard this owl?

regards,
