Bruce LaBar, Rick Romea, and myself had great luck today with the LBGU
sitting in the onion field .25 miles down Hussy Road off Hwy 12 in Walla
Walla. We arrived at the site at 10:00AM and within about 2-3 minutes of
arriving, we were all enjoying spectacular views of this great bird. Also
observing the bird with us at the time were Ruth Fischer and Laurie? Ness.
We watched the bird for a good half hour before moving on. Ruth and told us
about a NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL that was staked out at the Badger Mountain
Winery in Richland, so we all headed that direction for the trip back. Right
before we arrived at the winery, Ruth and Laurie also showed us a pair of
BURROWING OWLS basically in a burrow in someones side yard. I don't know
exact location. We obtained permission from the desk in the store before
heading up the hill towards a patch of evergreens where Ruth quickly picked
out the SAW-WHET roosting out in the open posing in the full sun for a few
full frame photos. Thats about it, Good Birding!
