Hi;
Today, 2/12, I birded Nisqually NWR. I found an immature Harris's Sparrow at
the northwest corner of the dike trail, where McAllister Creek opens into the
sound. This most likely is the same bird we found on the Xmas Bird Count in
the same location. The bird was in a mixed flock of White-crowns and
Golden-crowns in the Blackberry brambles.
I was completely surpriseed by two speceis of Swallows. A single Tree
Swallow at a pond also at the northwest corner of the refuge, and 4 Barn
Swallows on the pond west of the parking lot as you head to McAllister Creek.
The Tree Swallow was a surprise though not completely unlikely but I would
never have expected Barn Swallows in mid-Feburary!!
Good Birding!
