Hi Tweeters! Yesterday (Feb. 11) while taking my dog out I heard a
particularly noisy chickadee over by the pond in our yard. I went over to
investigate and saw a Chestnut-backed Chickadee inside of one of the
birdhouses over there with another one (presumably the male) singing it's
heart out above her. I'm guessing this is the same pair of Chestnut-backeds
that successfully raised 4 young in that same birdhouse last year. I believe
it's bit early (or is it?) for them to even be checking out a nestbox.
Unfortunately the local House Sparrows have also been chirping and landing on
a different nest box. Either these birds are really mixed up or springs a
coming and soon! I also heard a frog croaking in one of our neighbor's yard
the other day, though I've heard a few all winter. Good Birding!
