Last Thursday, 2/10, Russell Rogers of Olympia noted changes in House
Finch and Junco behavior. Just wanted to chime in with a confirmation
from the same locale. I'm in SE Lacey near the junction of Ruddell Rd.
and the Yelm Hwy. I heard the first male House Finch song of the year on
Monday evening, 2/7. Then heard male House Finch song again early
Wednesday morning, 2/9. Over the past weekend, 2/12-13, heard them again
a number of times. Also, as of Sunday, 2/6, observed male Dark-eyed
Juncos chasing each other, both at the house feeders and on a walk in
the neighborhood. The number of Junco's at the yard feeders at one time
has also dropped. The massive winter flocks of Redwing Blackbirds and
European Starlings that have plagued my home feeders all fall and winter
are also noteceably breaking up. Have seen a few adult male Redwings
atop reeds in the storm water drainage ponds. First noticed them on a
walk on Saturday 2/12.

Good Birding!
