actually, there is more evidence to suggest that birds evolved
indirectly from reptiles, and directly from one line of the
dinosaurs. mammals also evolved from reptiles, by the way, but
mammal poops wouldn't reveal that ancient link.

i was talking to a birding pal of mine last night, and we had a
nice chuckle over the realization that at least a few of the
tropical island "paradises" that so many of us long for are made
of millenia of guano; if it wasn't for guano, some of these
tropical paradises wouldn't exist!
