Hello Tweeters:

About 11:00 this morning I observed a male BELTED KINGFISHER perched on a
small tree along side the Green River in Kent. He was just north of the
foot bridge that connects the golf course, next to Washington Street. I
watched for a few minutes as he sat, then in very quick succession of four
trips, caught what appeared to be salmon smolts from a back eddy in the
water. Through the binoculars the fish appeared to be about 2 1/2" to 3"
long and had bright shiny sides. Steelhead smolts are more mottled and have
darker sides.
