We saw our resident Anna's Hummers gathering nesting material yesterday. It
seems like they are really getting a jump on things.
We also observed a young Red Tailed Hawk along the Sammamish Bike Trail. We
stopped to watch it, when we noticed something hanging from it's legs. The
bird flew and we heard a bell. It turned out to be a Jesses (sp?)with a
bell. We were curious if the leather straps will eventually come off, or
will the bird get hung up and die hanging upside down? We tried to locate
someone who may have been flying the hawk, but couldn't locate anyone. The
bird evidently escaped from a falconer. If anyone knows one who has lost a
young bird recently have them contact us, and we will pin point the area the
bird was last seen.
