Subject: Who am I feeding anyway?

Just had to add my feeder story - the timing was so perfect. Was
reading about the poor crow loosing his breakfast when I glanced out my
kitchen window at my "feeding tree". The 60 year old apple usually has
about a million little birds on it in the mornings - the usual beautiful
things. But that very minute there was a Cooper's Hawk sitting up there
looking back at me (not another bird to be found of course). He/she was
there again this morning. As much as I love my little tweets this guy
is fascinating. I'm wondering if he is the same one that hit my living
room window last year (no - I'm not kidding - hubby loves his clean
windows). I heard this incredible thunk went to the front door and the
poor thing was looking up at me with a "wow what a trip" look on it's
face. We carefully put it in a dog kennel until we heard it moving
around and then just let it go. Seemed no worse for wear.
