On Saturday me and Jim Pruske birded the Grays Harbor NWR and sewage
ponds. We had 34 species including 80+ CANVASBACKS, 15 RUDDY DUCKS, 200+
NORTHERN SHOVELERS, and 40+ LESSER + GREATER SCAUP combined sitting on a
log.
We by-passed Ocean Shores due to the number of people and went up to
Griffiths-Priday State Park. We had 21 species, some tougher to get than
others. Hi-lights included 1 female RINGED NECKED PHEASANT, 1 WESTERN
MEADOWLARK, several VARIED THRUSH, and 2 second year GLAUCOUS GULLS on
the beach.
