Hi Tweets,

On Monday, Bruce LaBar and I located a flock of about 200 Bohemian Waxwings
in the town of Twisp, WA (Delorme D-99, B-7). They were found in the small
residential section off of Ainsworth Road feeding on a Mountain Ash tree
along with lots of American Robins and Eurasian Starlings. Ainsworth Road
is the first left after you cross the Twisp River going North on Hwy 20.

Outside the town of Winthrop, we had a tantalizing look at a flock of about
100 finch-like birds, with a few larger birds mixed in, on the 2 mile road
right before Pearygin State Park. We spotted them going over the hillside
and unfortunately we couldn't locate the flock again. Common Redpolls and
Gray-crowned Rosy Finches are in the area, so it is certainly worth taking a
second look in the area.

The other bird of interest was the large number of Bald Eagles on the Methow
River. Bruce and I counted 30 of them up to the town of Winthrop.

For those who need alternative reasons to get up to the area, the snow for
cross-country skiing is absolutely wonderful and would be well worth the
trip. For the downhillers, Mission Ridge just south of Wenatchee has lots
of good snow, as well. Twisp is a good 2+ hours from Wenatchee.

Good Birding,
