Tweeters,

Some Eastside birders might want to check out the identity of a flock of
shorebirds I saw from my bike yesterday in the Sammamish Valley. They were
in a little oxbow pond about 1/4 mile west of the Sammamish river bridge
immediately north of 116th Street N.E. I often observe ducks in this pond
and some Kildeer, but this was the first flock of mixed shorebirds I have
ever seen here.

Observations could be of some significance for habitat preservation. The
field that the little oxbow is in is slated to become a soccer field. The
oxbow is a remnant of the original Sammamish channel and is a 6 mo. per year
wetland, but I'm sure it will not be recognized without some species
observations and documentation.
