Charles and other Tweets:

Since May 1999, I have seen 56 different bird species at the NE 116th St.
property, bordered by Willows Rd. and the Sammamish River, Redmond. Most of
the 32-acre Benaroya parcel is owned by the Lake Washington Youth Soccer
Association. The City of Redmond owns the western portion next to Willows
Road.

I have been doing a monthly bird survey/inventory of this property and
providing the results to the East Lake Washington Audubon Society's
Conservation Committee for their use in discussions and meetings with the
City of Redmond and the soccer league association. At one point in time, it
was determined that if some of the land is converted to soccer fields and
parking lots, there would be no soccer between March 1 and July 31, to allow
for nesting birds. Other stipulations would also apply.

There's almost always a nice variety of birds using this undeveloped land.
