Tweeters,

Yesterday I drove from Seattle to Kent via SR99. Just after crossing
the old highway 99 where the highway turns east for a short way, near
Duamish Junction, I noticed a long, large, bunchy flock of crows heading
south, just east of the Duamish River. This was about 5:00 or 5:15 pm.
The flock looked very much like what I see every evening at my apt near
Green Lake, when the crows gather and head over to the roost on Foster
Island.

This long flock, mostly in bunches, was strung out from duamish
Junction down the valley and the leaders were heading south over I405
as I headed east on I405. A half mile east on I405, I saw more crows,
really just a handful, coming diagonally from the NE, seeming to be
coming from the east side of the lake across the valley to wherever the
other flock of crows was heading.

My question is: Is there a well-known, large crow-roost in the south
end?

I also want to just mention that for the first time ever, I had two
flickers this morning at my third-floor feeder (sunflower chips). Male
and female, I think. They hung around off and on for an hour and one
just came back as I was writing. I've had the odd flicker, but in the
past, if I scared it (mostly because I didn't know it was there), it
would never come back. These, on the other hand, perched on a nearby
birch tree and came back. They just hung on the pegs of the feeder or
sat on the sill for a while, too. Very neat.
