Today at the Nisqually Refuge, I watched a PEREGRINE FALCON perched on
his usually tree. Bobbing his head and looking around, this bird was on
a mission to fill his belly. After about ten minutes, the peregrine flew
straight out across the farm fields at a liesurely pace, dropping ever
so closely to the ground as he neared his prey. Up in the air went some
ducks, and this peregrine hit the nitro jets, went up into a high speed
360 looping dive, and nailed a duck species as it was starting to fly up
and away. It brought its kill back to his river side perch and stuffed
his face.
