Saturday, December 31, 4:45 p.m. Hi, this is Stephen
Mlodinow. Today Steve Pink and I finished off the
Millennium by birding Whidbey Island. Highlight was
probably two ROCK SANDPIPERS at Oak Harbor.
Between Oak Harbor and Penn Cove, we had about 475
BLACK TURNSTONES and about 20 SURFBIRDS. And
at Penn Cove, there was approximately 7,000 SURF
SCOTERS and about 3,000 WHITE-WINGED
SCOTERS. Yesterday at American Camp on San Juan
Island, Steve Pink had three PACIFIC GOLDEN
PLOVERS on the field where the SKYLARKS used to be.
