Yesterday I was part of the Rainier Audubon Christmas Bird Count.
My little group didn't see anything spectacular, but it was fun!
Here are some of our highlights and one "low-light".
I got a "lifer"!!!!!! VARIED THRUSH up in the park behind Kent-Meridian
High School.
TOWNSEND'S WARBLER (second time sighting for me)
RUBY CROWN KINGLETS
GOLDEN CROWN KINGLETS
DOWNY WOODPECKERS
HAIRY WOODPECKERS
NORTHERN FLICKERS
And the "low-light" found us by a stinking, and I mean STINKING, rotting
purple cabbage field where about twenty KILLDEER were hunkered down in the
midst of the kraut! It was "sour" kraut for sure.
