I have the Bogen 3126 head. It doesn't have the quick release and I
didn't want
one on the head because I also bought 3 of the Bogen 3270 quick
release plates.
They come as a pair. The bottom half mounts to your tripod head,
window mount or
whatever. The top half mounts to your scope, camera etc. I like the
3270 quick
release plate because it has a better locking device. It locks
automatically, I
think the "regular" Bogen quick release requires you to manually make
sure it is
locked. If you forget....ouch!

If I were to get another head I think it would be a "Slik Pistol grip
head" I
think a 3270 quick release plate can be mounted between it an the
tripod, which
would make it more compact for travel.
