The subject line kinda gives it away but there are some good things
that resulted from the trip.

Tom Munson from Spokane met us at our home and then we picked up Ann
Van Denburgh at Bridgeport and then headed for Chelan, arriving at the
"location" a few minutes after 7.00 am. There were 4 pair of eyes
looking for the owl and then around 8.00 am there were 2 more when
Larry and Jacque Goodhew arrived.

We saw several raptors in the hunting mode but no NORTHERN HAWK OWL. I
think this bird is there every other day and we are there on the wrong
days. ;-?

We left about 9.30 am as Sandy had to be to work at 1.00 pm and we
wanted to stop at Monse (near Brewster) to try for the Harris's
Sparrow which would be a lifer for Tom Munson. Within 1/4 mile of the
HASP location we saw a Very Dark (almost all black) HARLAN'S REDTAIL
with some white in the middle of the tail feathers that ran length
wise. We got to the location and within 10 minutes saw one immature
and one mature HARRIS'S SPARROW! Along the highway to Bridgeport
there were raptors everywhere. In one location we counted 12.

About 5-6 miles from Grand Coulee Tom mentioned that he had not seen a
Northern Pygmy Owl....you guessed it... about two miles before G.C.
there is a NORTHERN PYGMY OWL perched on a bush right next to the
road! It was very accommodating and let Tom get so close he had to
back up to take photos. If that wasn't enough a GOLDEN EAGLE flew
over.

We didn't get to see that ol' hawk owl but we did see alot of other
birds and enjoyed the company of Tom, Ann, Larry and Jacque.

ATTENTION Northern Hawk Owl! We ain't gave up on you yet!
