I'm sending this to tweeters in case that its of interest to others. I know
the Blue Grouse are residents in the Green Mountain area/Watershed of
S.Kitsap Co. I know the watershed is normally closed. The Green Mt. area is
mostly on DNR roads which are closed this time of year to vehicles but can be
walked. If you have a Delorme its pg. 78 D-2. Go west on NW Holly Rd. and
then south on Tahuya Lk. RD. to the FS road on the left. If you are really
intent on trying for this species I would probably elect to try someplace
else as getting Blue Grouse anywhere in March in Kitsap is less than a 30%
chance. I would think some areas like the Snoqualmie Pass, Hurricane Ridge
are probably better bets but I'll let others you are more familar with
getting Blues in late winter/early spring speculate further.

To identify a species should not be enough to quench one's thirst,
a proper thirst must seek to understand every facet of the bird's
existence.
