Marv,
With only one day to bird and no car, I think your best bet is White Rock Lake. There is a running path that encircles the lake. I think it's about six miles around. The DeGolyer Estate at the southwest corner is a great spot in winter, having woods, gardens, bamboo thickets and weedy fields. It's been thirteen years since I left Dallas, so I don't know if the "Old Fish Hatchery" is still natural, but it is in the southwest corner of the lake and comprises fields and woods with marsh and woodland ponds. White Rock Lake is not far from downtown, and I am sure that public transportation will be no problem.

On Jan 22 I am going to Dallas on business for a week. I'll probably have a full day to bird, but will probably not have a car. I would very much appreciate any advice regarding places to bird and bus travel tips. I'll probably have to stay pretty close to the main part of town. Please respond to me personally. Thanks.
