Tweets,

I had an interesting experience today about 4:00 when I got home from work.
As usual I checked the back yard to see if there was anything interesting and
I noticed a smaller than usual bird in the back corner. When I let my dog out
of the kennel she took her customary loop around the yard and a TOWNSEND'S
WARBLER flushed from the back corner and followed her across the yard. This
was a first-time yard bird for me. Great!!

I then went to fill the feeders and as I was putting black oil sunflower
seeds in the tube feeder I caught a glimpse of something flying around the
doug fir and I flinched a bit. I didn't feel anything and turned and watched
a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK land in the oak tree. I don't know who was more
surprised, me or the bird. I was clearly not what it expected to find at the
feeders! What a terrific way to start the afternoon.

We were few and they were plenty. Now we are plenty and they are few.
